Autonomiq’s Founding Process

As a mentor at Waska.org, I accompany Autonomiq.org’s founding members in their journey towards the establishment of a social enterprise. Promoters (founding members, see photo, from left to right) are Mary-Lynn Burt (Secretary), Janny Lemay-Norman (President), Gabrielle Anne Dupont (Vice-President), Matthieu Chavez (Treasurer) and myself, Jean-François Néron, the motivator and the mentor, as part of Waska.org’s Communauté Québec Program.

The mission of Autonomiq.org is to build autonomy and socio-economic prosperity. Its target audience consists of associations working to help people achieve self-sufficiency and prosperity. In short, its clientele includes all non-profit organizations and philanthropic groups.

Can an individual become a member? Of course! There is room for volunteers who wish to invest their passion in the construction effort. Moreover, the founding team meets every Tuesday night at 18:30 at Pizza Racine to work on achieving the organization’s coming to existence. Anyone passionate about concrete and efficient action, with an entrepreneurial vision to build prosperity in their community is welcome to join the team.

The future organization will provide its customers with services to enhance opportunities to raise vital resources for their endeavours such as funding, human resources, equipment, etc. For example, Autonomiq.org is implementing a mutual-help network with an Internet platform for networking and where humanitarian souls can post their needs or whatever they wish to exchange with their peers. Such a network existed but recently had to close for lack of funding and volunteers. Autonomiq.org’s network goes much further: a multimedia office specialist team will provide members with remote integrated management services, at a rate that better reflects their financial reality. This service includes secretarial and administrative assistance, community management, representation, communication, graphic design and much more, all for strengthening the capacity of member organizations to collect resources to exist and function.

Other projects are on the table. The most popular is the creation of jobs for people affected by diseases or chronic conditions that prevent them from maintain regular jobs. Teleworking would allow them to put their shoulders to the wheel performing work to maintain the support network, at a rhythm that suits their capabilities and health condition. The idea of extending this program to students is also under consideration.

The founding team builds partnerships in the community to entrench the organization’s endeavours. As Waska.org does with its program Communauté Québec Autonomiq.org meets a large part of its people in cafes and eateries to help these venues generate dynamic table occupancy and sales. The positive socio-economic impact can be measured almost immediately. A partnership with a computer trader is on the table to establish storefront there. Mutual-help among people and businesses in the community is a recyclable kinetic movement, as with materials and energy. Autonomiq.org understands the importance and advantage of recovering this dynamic energy in all its forms.
